The essence of the feminine divine is kindled within every woman who has embraced the role of mother, whether nurturing a child, cultivating a creative endeavor, or championing a cause. In the act of mothering, we tap into the inherent 'protectress' aspect of the feminine divine. This sacred archetype, which spans across cultures and time, embodies the profound power of nurturing, safeguarding, and sustaining life.

 

The COVID-19 pandemic awakened my inner protectress, igniting a fervent need to shield my family, especially my young child, from harm. This ordeal compelled me to reevaluate my own behaviors and advocate for the well-being of our community. As the complexities of politics and public health entangled, the toll on my spirit weighed heavily.

In response to this inner turmoil, I turned to ritual as a source of solace and strength. Through constructing personal ritual, I summoned the dormant protectress that resides within my own existence—tapping into my inner resilience and hope amid uncertainty. This profound experience is reflected in this artwork, capturing the transformative journey of a woman embracing her inner protectress.
